Jo at work

I started my career as a cashier in a local RBS branch 17 years ago. I later became chief cashier and was responsible for the day-to-day running of the branch.

In 2009, I became a Business Adviser with NatWest. My main role was to support a group of local Business Relationship Managers. I supported them in many ways, whether it was arranging their client meetings, liaising with solicitors and the banks’ underwriters on a property purchase or simply being at the end of the phone if a client had a banking query.

I was made redundant from NatWest in May 2017 and my little boy was born a month later. I then spent a wonderful 13 months on maternity leave before embarking on my Stonegate career in July 2018!

My day-to-day role varies, however my main duties include contacting providers for policy information, being part of the client review process (initial contact, formatting review files, finalising the recommendation), producing management information and preparing invoices.

What is your ideal weekend?

I would start the day with a nice warm cup of tea but with two children under four this is a rarity! We would then pack the car up and drive to the seaside. We would find a nice sunny spot and build sandcastles and paddle in the sea with the kids and dog. Fish and chips for lunch would be a must. We’d head back (both kids would be fast asleep in the car!) and I’d finish the day with a nice glass of Rose whilst watching TV.

Do you support any teams?

I can’t say that I really follow any sport, but I spent many cold and windy nights at the Victoria Ground when I was younger watching (or more to the point – being made to watch!) Stoke City.

What’s your favourite part of the world?

It has to be Singapore. The shopping, the food, the skyline, the cleanliness – there are so many reasons why I would love to go back!

What one thing can instantly make your day better?

Waking up and seeing the sun peeking through the curtains and knowing it’s going to be a lovely warm sunny day.

What’s at the top of your bucket list?

I would love to visit the swimming pigs in the Bahamas!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Treat others the way you want to be treated.
